Police Say Men Used Skateboards To Assault Tulsa Victim

UPDATE: Records show that the charges against Gleeson, Molet, and Scribner were dismissed on November 20th and French pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of simple assault and battery.

Four men were arrested Thursday on warrants of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon stemming from an assault that took place in Tulsa last summer. 

Police say the four assaulted a father and son so badly the father had a cracked skull. They used their skateboards to beat the son when he tried to help his then 68-year-old father, records show.

An affidavit states Kevin Anthony French, Gage Gleeson, Kobe Daylon Molet and Wyatt Scribner were at Molet's home in the 9200 block of South 72nd East Avenue on June 6, 2017. The victim, a man named Ronnie Jack Freeman, was driving by to pick up his son and got into a verbal argument with Molet, police said.

When Freeman drove back by the group with his son Aaron, he again exchanged words with the group of four friends. Police said the Freemans got out of the car and continued to argue with the skateboarders.

An independent witness told police, "Kevin French took a running start from a yard into the street and struck Freeman with his fist," documents state.

"Freeman did not see French coming and was knocked backwards into the street."

Police say the elder Freeman cracked his skull on the pavement and had to have staples and a neck brace.

His son ran to his father, and "all four of the friends jumped on Aaron Freeman and began hitting him with their fists and skateboards," the affidavit states. Police say eventually the younger Freeman was able to break free and help his father, and several neighbors ran up to help as well.

Police said Scribner, 21; Gleeson, 20; and French, 19, got in a car and drove off. Molet remained on the scene near his parents' house, the affidavit states.

The Northern Oklahoma Violent Crimes Task Force picked up the four men who are charged with assault and battery and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
