Investigator Stephen Blaylock says he was responding as back up to a call when a truck nearly ran him over before leading officers on a pursuit.
He just says he's happy that the man is sitting in the Tulsa County Jail instead of being out on the streets.
"I believed the driver was gonna run me over," said Blaylock.
On August 3rd an officer in an unmarked car was waiting to order some food in a drive-through line when he ran the tag of the car in front of him that came up stolen so the officer called Investigator Stephen Blaylock for back up.
"As I exited my vehicle on the passenger side the driver turned and gunned it towards me," said Blaylock.
That's when Investigator Blaylock says he fired off shots at the truck because he was scared for his life.
"It’s a dangerous job but anybody can use a vehicle as a weapon," said Blaylock.
"It doesn't appear that any of the rounds that he shot actually hit the vehicle and it did not hit anybody in the vehicle," said TPD Officer Jeanne Mackenzie.
After that, Investigator Blaylock says Tulsa Police got into a pursuit with the suspect. Police chased the driver to a neighborhood near 71st and Sheridan where four people got out of the truck and ran.
Eventually, officers arrested Philip Patrick and the three 16-year-olds who were in the car with him. Patrick is in jail facing multiple complaints including Possession of a Stolen Vehicle and Eluding.
The stolen truck from the pursuit was recovered along with several guns.
