KFAQ Talk Radio 1170 held a debate Thursday morning between the Republican candidates for Tulsa County District Attorney.
Host Pat Campbell was the moderator.
The current District Attorney Steve Kunzweiler is running against a former Assistant District Attorney from his office, Ben Fu. Fu believes Kunzweiler’s management has led to low morale among the staff, encouraging turnover, and believes Kunzweiler should work on alternatives to prison for non-violent crimes.

Kunzweiler argued he’s effectively managed a staff during a time of dwindling state budgets, where the office draws a substantial portion of funding. He said he’s focused the office on prosecuting the most violent crimes while working on alternatives for less violent criminals.
Radio listeners reacted strongly to Fu’s statement that he didn’t vote for President Trump and twice voted for President Obama. Fu said that decision doesn’t reflect how he would manage the District Attorney’s office after Kunzweiler criticized him for running as a Republican after voting for Democrats.
The two will face each other in the Republican primary election next Tuesday.
