A convicted sex offender is back behind bars, accused of making lewd proposals to a 13-year-old boy.
Skiatook police say this all started with a tip from someone who knew Gerin Park is a convicted sex offender and saw him talking to a child.
Detectives say they started off with a few first names of possible victims and the case unfolded from there.
An affidavit says Park met the teenager at a park. The victim told detectives that Park talked with him on Snapchat, bought him food, and gave him Xbox gift cards.
The boy says Park offered him more gifts if they spent time alone. He also says Park offered money in exchange for nude photos.
“I wanted to warn parents of the dangers of letting their kids use apps on their cell phones, such as Snapchat, Kik, Whisper, Hot or Not, Live Me,” said Detective Wes Henderson. “Sexual predators are using these apps as windows to access kids and they remain anonymous.”
According to court records, Park pled guilty in 2005 to four counts of molesting children received a 20-year suspended sentence.

Not long after that, Park was again charged and a judge sentenced him to prison for the 20 years. However, a year later, that sentence was reduced to 10 years and Park was released after 8 years.
“The frustrating part is you put in all the work and they get sentenced and they are eventually let out,” said Henderson. “They usually start right back up again.”
Detectives think there could be more victims.
If your child has been in contact with Park, you’re asked to call the Skiatook Police Department.
