The body of what's believed to be a missing man was recovered nearly a month ago but still hasn't been positively identified.

The Pittsburg County Sheriff's Office says the identification process could take months, but Jerrie Reagan believes it’s her son.

"My name is Jerrie Reagan. I'm a second-time cancer patient which demands my life live in the fast lane."

Carefully reading from a prepared statement Jerrie Reagan recounts the moment she reported her son Robert missing on July 21st. Last seen living off the land near Lake Eufaula.

"He's a good-looking boy, man, 53 1/2 years old. He had gone to stay in Pittsburg County. He had his own business and he closed it down to take a break," said Jerrie.

Jerrie says Robert loved to hunt, fish and was happiest surrounded by nature. He was using this past year to live a simple life to figure out what's next.

"I took him supplies, every week we went down and took supplies and he was evidently soul searching himself," said Jerrie.

Although secluded, Jerrie says Robert looked forward to the daily phone calls and regular visits. But on July 7th the day of her 55th wedding anniversary Robert didn't answer his phone.

"In our heart of hearts, we know he died on July 7th of this year," said Jerrie.

The Pittsburg County Sheriff says a boater found a body on July 27th believed to be Robert Reagan. Nearly a month later there's still no official cause of death or identification. But Jerrie is in a race against cancer and with time running out she's desperate for answers.

"I don't know why I can't seem to claim the body. If it's a monetary issue I can get the money. Someone, someone in the state of Oklahoma can help me put my child to rest before my family has to put me down," said Jerrie.

On Wednesday, the medical examiner's office told the Reagan family the body may have to go to Texas for a DNA sample to be taken. A process that can take months even up to a year.
