Five members of a family were not injured when a van struck a church building on North Peoria and Haskell Place around 7:30 Monday morning.
Police say the van was headed south on Peoria when the driver spotted a northbound semi truck possibly veering into his lane. The driver veered off the road and struck the side of the building which is being used as a church.
Police Cpl. JD Curran says a father, mother and three children inside the van were all wearing their seat belts and not injured in the crash.
The property manager told News On 6 a man was inside the church about to pray when the vehicle came through the wall. That man was also unhurt.
The impact did cause some damage inside the building. You could see musical instruments including a drum set that were damaged.
