The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation says a juvenile suspect has died following an officer-involved shooting in northeastern Oklahoma.

Bixby police say they had responded to a reported assault with a weapon around 5:00 a.m. on Sunday in the 16400 block of South 84th East Avenue. They say, while officers were at the scene, they were told someone had taken the family vehicle.

Police say an officer headed toward the scene spotted a vehicle matching the description and attempted to stop the vehicle. They say the driver fled, but eventually stopped, turned, and began driving at the officer.

According to police, the officer then fired at the driver. Police say the suspect was able to drive down the road going through a neighbor's yard moments after being shot. but officers located him soon after.

Jacob Parkison and his family watched the scene unfold.

"Bob and Delores got really, really lucky with him not hitting their house," said Parkison. "It almost looked like he could stand up on his own power when he got up on the gurney but they were pretty quick to load him up and get him on the way to the hospital."

Police say the juvenile male suspect was transported to a hospital with at least one gunshot wound. The OSBI confirmed the suspect died hours later.

OSBI agents say they used about a dozen evidence markers at the shooting scene - but we do not know how many shots were fired or how many times the suspect was hit.

The names of the suspect and officer involved have not been released.
