A woman was trapped in a pickup for over an hour after it collided with a semi on Highway 412 at 265th East Avenue.

The wreck happened Sunday morning around 8:40 a.m.  The pickup became stuck under the trailer and the passenger, Sherry Waterdown, was unable to get out.

Firefighters from the Fair Oaks Fire Department were the first to arrive.  Oak Grove and Rolling Hills crews responded to assist.

Rescuers had to stabilize Waterdown while performing a very involved extrication.

"We had to get up the big rig and get it off the car to be able to move the car out then be able to extricate the person out of the car at that point," said Fair Oaks Fire Chief Casey Fox

To free Waterdown, firefighters had to jack up the trailer, cut the roof off of the pickup, pull the pickup out from under the trailer, and cut away parts of the side of the truck.  She was eventually able to be removed from the truck around 10:20 a.m.

Firefighters say that some of the Fair Oaks firefighters had recently completed an extrication class and that their schooling was put to good use at this crash.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Hughart says the driver of the semi told him he had pulled over to the shoulder on the eastbound side of the highway to get his bearings and decided to turn around.

Hughart says that, when the semi pulled out from the shoulder, he pulled out in front of the eastbound pickup, which collided with the trailer.

Waterdown was flown to a Tulsa hospital with several injuries, according to the hospital she is in stable condition. The other passengers in the pickup are expected to be ok with no serious injuries.

The driver of the pickup, Erick Chavez-Burciaga, was transported to a Tulsa hospital with arm injuries.  He was treated and released.

The driver of the semi was not injured but was given a citation.
