Man Sent To Hospital After Tulsa House Fire

A man who ran back inside as a fire tore through his home was taken to the hospital Saturday. 

The fire left the home with heavy damage and neighbors said it was pretty scary watching the home burn so close to theirs.

"The tarps and everything was up in flames," said neighbor Lonnie Falkner. 

"I heard what sounded like to be a gunshot or a loud explosion," said neighbor Barbara Williams. 

"We heard these 3 big explosions and I came outside to see what was going on, and as I came out there was a bunch of smoke and I turn to my right to see the whole house here on fire," Falkner said. 

Firefighters were told a man was trapped inside the burning home. 

When they got to the fire, they found the man outside with burns to his body.

Neighbors said at one point the man ran back inside to try and save some of his belongings.

"I don't know if he was overcome by smoke or whatever but he didn't get stronger. He kind of collapsed," said Williams. 

Firefighters said they were able to put the fire out quickly.

Neighbors said their hearts go out to the man who has now lost everything.

"I've been here for a couple of years now, and I wouldn't expect anything like this to happen. It's a sad incident really," Falkner said. 

"I know him to be a good guy and a sweet person and I'm praying for him. I hope everything turns out okay for him," said Williams. 

One of the homeowners said the man is still in the hospital due to burns and smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
