The Oklahoma Senate approved a budget Wednesday for a $7.5 billion spending plan in the fiscal year 2019 by a vote of 36 to 8.
The bill will increase spending by more than $700 million and includes funding for the promised $6,100 teacher pay raise, as well as, increased funds for education, in general, as well as additional funding for mental health, substance abuse treatment, prisons, and the department of human services.
The budget will make no cuts to state agencies. The measure still requires approval from the House which will vote as early as Friday.
