There are new developments at Oral Roberts University as the school broke ground on its first new dorm in decades Wednesday.
It's been more than 40 years since a new dorm was built at Oral Roberts University, but administrators say it's unavoidable with the growth they've had over the years.
University leaders said the building will consist of two towers, one for women and one for men.
It will include apartment-style housing where each unit will have its own kitchen, washer, and dryer as well as living and dining areas.
The $10 million project adds 240 new beds.
ORU's president said he would've never expected this kind of growth just a few years ago when the university was struggling financially.
"When I became president 5 years ago, I thought 'I don't know that we'll ever need a new dorm for a while' and then, the growth has really gone significant," said Dr. William Wilson.
The university said the building should be opened by the fall of 2019.
