Terence Crutcher's parents have filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the City of Tulsa. Crutcher was shot and killed September 16, 2016, by then Tulsa Police Officer Betty Shelby.

Shelby was acquitted in the death in May, 2017.

The Crutchers held a news conference Wednesday to discuss the lawsuit.

"Everyone saw the video," said Leanne Crutcher, mother. "I will never get over that. Don't tell me to get over that."

Crutcher's estate administrator has also filed a lawsuit in the Tulsa man's death.

An attorney for the Rev. Joey and Leanna Crutcher said their son lived with them, attended church with them, cooked for and traveled with them.

"Due to the City’s negligence in hiring and training Shelby, Rev. Crutcher and Mrs. Crutcher will live the rest of their lives without their constant companion, star choir member, and loving son," a news release states.

The following statement from the Rev. Crutcher was included:

“Every night, my wife and I cry because we see our son with his hands up when we close our eyes.  So, while we are frankly tired of all of the legal proceedings, we must continue to fight to hold those responsible for the murder of Terence accountable and to get some sort of justice for Terence.”
