The Oklahoma Education Association encouraged teachers and education advocates to fill the halls of the State Capitol building on day two of the school shutdown.

Teachers have set up a stand and are chanting slogans like "our kids are worth it" and "fund-er up!"  They also say they plan to be at the capitol Wednesday.

It's not just Oklahoma teachers who are attending the rally. News On 6 spoke to teachers from Illinois and Minnesota who came to support the rally for education funding.

Education representatives sau they want a plan to replace a $50 million funding hole left when lawmakers repealed the hotel/motel tax. They also want the Senate to pass legislation that would allow ball and dice games in Oklahoma casinos.

That would generate another $22 million.

They also want lawmakers to repeal the capital gain tax exemption.
