Cadets Face Grueling 24-Hour Drill On The Way To Becoming Tulsa Firefighters

Twenty-six cadets are on their way to becoming Tulsa firefighters.

The group started an intense 24-hour drill Wednesday morning.

The day started with a 55-story stair climb.

Other exercises included search and rescue and ventilation drills.

This 24-hour drill is one of the final steps in the 22-week training program.

“It’s really important to do this because, during the academy, we deal with the cadets on individual skills,” said Tulsa Fire Captain Kofi Wallace.  “It’s really important for us to capture all of those skills and put them together so that they can do them in a seamless transition.”

If the cadets make it through the rest of training, they will graduate on April 11th.
