Controlled Burn Gets Out Of Hand In Sand Springs

A controlled burn got out of hand and threatened some structures in Sand Springs Wednesday afternoon.

The fire started at the Flying G Ranch.

The ranch manager said he lit the grass in the morning and has the day went on the wind picked up and took the flames.

He said they planned to burn about 1,000 acres and that it's burned a little more than that.

The manager said his neighbors also planned burns for the day.

Some structures were near the fire but crews are on the scene to prevent them from being burned.

Firefighters said they do have the fire under control.
