Students at Nathan Hale walked out Wednesday, March 14, to protest school violence. They were part of the National School Walkout on the one-month anniversary of the Parkland, Florida school shooting.

Students took to the football field in support of National Walkout Day and to make their voices heard about their own frustrations here at Nathan Hale.

"Put the guns down. We want change right now. We want change right now," students chanted.

For 17 minutes, hundreds of Nathan Hale students flooded the football field as part of a national walkout in response to the school shooting in Florida. Students also talked about safety concerns in light of the shooting that happened across the street from Nathan Hale earlier this month.

"Communication definitely needs to be a better area at the school and that everybody's on the same page," said Mollie Montgomery, junior. "And whenever stuff does happen, we need to be told the truth, and we need to be told the truth because it's our lives and our safety."

Some students plan to continue making their voices heard beyond National Walkout Day.
