The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a Checotah man was killed in a car-semi crash in Muskogee County Monday evening.

Troopers identified him as 79-year-old Oliver Farrimond.  Troopers say he was a passenger in a 2010 Chevy Malibu which was struck by a semi on Highway 62 about six miles north of Boynton just before 8 p.m.

The OHP says the car driven by 73-year-old Elizabeth Farrimond had backed onto the highway at 23rd Street when a southbound 2007 International semi tractor trailer was unable to stop, hitting the car on the passenger side.

The semi's driver, Sidney Coryell, 43, of Hot Springs, Arkansas was not injured.

The OHP says the cause of the collision remains under investigation.
