Construction Mishap Reveals McAlester History

A construction mishap is credited with uncovering a series of old tunnels under a historic part of McAlester.

Carolyn McNatt shared photos of the discovery on a community Facebook page.

She said a piece of construction equipment caused the street to cave in, revealing the old tunnels.

Like many towns, tunnels once connected McAlester's train station to area businesses.
