Osage County Crash Victims May Have Been In Car For Hours

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said the victims of a car crash along Highway 20 at Skiatook Lake early Wednesday were stuck in their car for a while. 

The driver of the wrecked car, Daniel James Stilley of Claremore, told News On 6 a passerby stopped to help around 6 a.m. The 28-year-old man said he and his girlfriend were in the wrecked car for about 4 hours before being spotted.

Troopers say the crash happened around 2 a.m. about half a mile west of the Osage Park area on Highway 20. The car was westbound on Highway 20 when it crossed the center line and went off the road to the left, according to OHP.

Stilley hit a guard rail, continued down an embankment and nearly went into the lake.

Rebecca Darlene Morgan, Stilley's 26-year-old passenger, was taken to the hospital where she is said to be stable with internal injuries.   

Stilley suffered some minor injuries and but wasn't transported.

Troopers are now trying to determine what caused the crash.
