Donations are pouring in for a firefighter who lost his home in a fire. That firefighter lives in Slick in Creek County, but works at the Glenpool Fire Department.

The firefighter, Darin Groom was working Saturday when his home burned to the ground.

The Slick Volunteer Fire Department told News On 6 that no one knew about the fire until a hunter in the area noticed flames and called 911 on Saturday.

Thankfully, no one was home.

Firefighters said by the time they got there, the home was engulfed and they couldn't save anything. The family lost a car, their home, clothes and everything else inside.

Groom and his wife are expecting a baby in January and they have a 3-year-old daughter.

Posts circulating on social media have brought in so many donations, the firefighters union is practically inundated.

We reached out to the family and the fire department, but the family is very private and does not want to talk on camera.

In fact, folks who know the family said they are even hesitant to accept any donations at this point because they really don't know what they need yet.

But what they did say is that the Groom family is absolutely wonderful, and that right now they don't want to violate their wishes and talk about the issue on camera.

The state fire marshal's office has been called in to investigate the cause of the fire.

Now, the community is collecting clothing, household items, gift cards and cash for the Groom family.

Sizes being sought are men's size large in shirts & 32/34 in pants, small-medium maternity clothing, girl's size 3T-4T clothes and shoe size 7.5 and newborn girl clothing to size 0-3 month clothing.

Checks should be made out to IAFF Local 2990 with a memo of 'Groom family,' or, Glenpool Fire Department, c/o Groom family, P.O. Box 821, Glenpool, OK 74033.

Donations may also be dropped off at the Glenpool Fire Station, which is located at 14536 S Elwood Ave., in Glenpool.
