College is nothing like it used to be, at least not where laundry is concerned.
The washing machines and dryers at Oral Roberts University's dorms are now free, and the machine will send you a text when your clothes are finished.
Stephanie Hill, ORU director of communications, said they have this new laundry system called Laundry View.
"I wish my home had this. That would be nice," said Ashton White, a junior at ORU.
White said she had some laundry going, so we trooped downstairs to see how this Laundry View thing works.
"On the app you can see that it's red. There's 22 minutes left on it," White said.
Red means the machine is in use, green means it's available and yellow means your stuff's done.
"On weekends you have to be patient a little bit," White said.
Every washer and dryer in all the dorms on campus are on the system. And all the machines are brand new.
About that time, Allie Betts came in to do some laundry.
She said she loves the new system because it's free and she doesn't have to save quarters anymore.
"Now I keep them in my car for the tolls," Betts said.
If you want, the machine will text you when your clothes are finished.
"It's right there, it says cycle completed," she said.
Some things in the laundry room never change.
Mismatched socks and found laundry — they don't have an app for that. Yet.
