Volunteers will be in Catoosa Friday to help clean up the iconic Blue Whale landmark.  The day is a work day at the site and you can help out or donate if you want.

The Blue Whale is a Route 66 icon and and a tourist attraction for many.  It survives solely off donations, volunteers and souvenir sales.

Right now, there are some features at the park that need to be replaced. Some of the childrens' tables are broken and the dock and lifeguard stand needs to be rebuilt.

But Friday, a lighthouse on the property is going to get some work.

This cleanup all started when a honeymooning Oklahoma City couple stopped by the landmark and noticed work needed to be done and vowed to come back to help.  That couple owns a construction company and they will be back Friday.

They're still hoping for volunteers and donations to help them out.

A group of local elementary students will also be at the Blue Whale Friday afternoon to pitch in.

Anyone interested in helping may contact Linda Hobbs at 918-232-5098 or the Blue Whale Park at 918-694-7390.
