Jenks police arrested a convicted sex offender they say wanted to have sex with a 13-year-old girl. Detectives say the man didn't know the person he'd been talking to online was actually an undercover police officer.
Police say Glenn Moffit sent a friend request to the girl on Facebook, and they began chatting. Police say Moffit sent her 24 photos of his nude privates, asked her for nude photos, tried to set up meetings with her and offered to teach her how to do different sex acts.
"It's shocking and it's amazing that it's on the news almost daily and they continue to do it," said Sergeant Melissa Brown, Jenks Police.
The detective who worked this case is a member of a group of officers from around the state that investigates crimes against children that happen on the Internet. They use undercover profiles on social media, posing as teenagers.
Police say they're not trying to entrap anyone, but predators come to them.
"He friended our undercover profile. He was sending us pictures. We never asked for pictures," Brown said.
"When he asked us for pictures, we did not send them. The only thing we did was say, our home life was bad, and he rolled with that."
Police say Moffit told the girl he loved her and she could live with him. He viewed her as his wife, even referring to her as Mrs. Moffit, according to police.
They arrested Moffit at his home in Pawnee and say he still didn't realize he'd actually be talking to a police officer this whole time until they told him.
Investigators say Moffit already has a criminal history of lewd proposals and acts with a minor child as well as failing to register as a sex offender.
Moffit was arrested Wednesday, September 27 on six counts of lewd proposal to a minor and three counts of lewd or indecent acts to a child.
