A McAlester man was charged with sexual battery after police say he tried to pull a woman out of a vehicle to kiss her "in a lewd and lascivious manner" without her consent.
Nathaniel Dewayne Meashintubby is also charged with possession of a firearm by a felon and reckless conduct with a firearm.
Court records state McAlester police were making a traffic stop at Hickory and Legends Lane Saturday, August 19, 2017, when they heard several gun shots nearby. Officers said they pulled up to Meashintubby's home in the 300 block of West Fillmore Avenue where they thought the gunshots had originated. A police report states Meashintubby came outside, and police could see a pistol in plain sight in his living room.
"There were some spent shell casings located outside," an officer said in his report.
Court records show a woman told police that the 34-year-old man pulled her from a car, trying to kiss her and telling her that he wanted to have sex with her.
Meashintubby has previous felony convictions for driving under the influence of alcohol (in 2005 and again in 2013) and attempted larceny (also in 2013.)
