The prosecutors handling the case of a Jenks man who is charged with five counts of lewd proposals to a child say that an online court system wrongly stated that he received a deferred sentence.

Michael Kenneth Bell, 40, is set to appear in Tulsa County Court for a preliminary hearing on Aug. 28, the prosecutors said.

The Oklahoma Supreme Court Network website stated Tuesday that Bell received a deferred sentence.

But the court minutes were wrong, prosecutors said.

Bell has not pleaded guilty to the crimes.

Bell used Snapchat and Instagram to try and meet with someone he thought was a 14-year-old girl, but who was actually an undercover officer.

Police investigated Bell for months.

Officers seized several items including computers from his home.

As police see more and more crimes like this, it's important for parents to know what apps their kids are using, police said.
