Owasso firefighters say a lightning strike sparked a fire in a home early Thursday. Fire investigators are looking into the cause, but they say early signs point to lightning hitting the house.
At around 12:30 a.m. the fire department was sent to the home near 96th Street North and Garnett.
A neighbor told News On 6 the moment they believe the lightning struck, it sounded like a bomb went off in the neighborhood.
Owasso Fire Department said the family of five woke up after hearing the loud noise. They later heard crackling from the flashed, rushed out of the house and called 911.
The fire caused extensive damage to the roof and attic of the home. Most of the other damage is from water, firefighters told News On 6.
