25 Homes, 152 Businesses Impacted By Tulsa Tornado

Tulsa Area Emergency Management Agency released details on structure damage in Sunday's tornado and say one home and four businesses were destroyed.

The completed report shows one Tulsa home was destroyed after two trees fell on it, nine sustained major damage, nine had minor damage and six others were affected in other ways, TAEMA said.

Tulsa businesses took a huge hit in the August 6 storm, with four being destroyed, 68 received major damage, 57 had minor damage and 23 others were affected in some way by the storm, according to TAEMA. 

News On 6 has learned several businesses in the area have been condemned by the City of Tulsa. Those businesses are:

• AT&T Store
• Woodcraft Store
• AspenDental
• Panera
• CarTec
• Whataburger
• TGI Fridays
• The Flame Broiler
• Vintage Stock
• H&R Block

There were also some empty storefronts condemned.

Some businesses in the area are open for business, including Tulsa's Promenade Mall. 

JC Penney's in Promenade is open, but shoppers will need to use the west entrance next to Sky Fitness, a member of the management team said.

The City said logistics for residential greenwaste should be completed Monday night and information made available shortly after.

The City also opened Yale Avenue and Sheridan Road to north and south bound traffic at 41st Street. However, 41st Street is still closed between Yale and Sheridan.

They said police have restricted access to the affected area and will stay overnight for safety and security.

Oklahoma's Insurance Commissioner John Doak landed in Tulsa Monday to do an assessment of the damage left behind by Sunday's tornado.

Doak is warning about how criminals and con artists can take advantage of you.

He confirmed what police have said, that there was some looting in midtown Tulsa after the tornado.

He also said people posing as roofing contractors will be out to get your money, too.

"There's typically contractors and folks that come in and take advantage of business owners," Doak said. "So, it's something we have to watch very, very closely."

Doak's office says if you haven't already, contact your insurance company about damage as soon as possible.
