Tulsa Tough: Cyclists Anticipate Cry Baby Hill

For the 12th straight year, some of the best cyclists in the world descend upon Green Country.

It is Tulsa Tough time again, and just like every year, riderS from all over the globe are represented.

Team Clif Bar is based out of Emeryville, California, but several of the members call Colorado home.

While the members have changed over the years, the team has been a fixture at Tulsa Tough.

This year's group is back again, and unlike some of the teams here, they're amateurs.

They all hold full-time jobs, some in the cycling world, some not. One rider works for UPS when he's not on the bike.

The amount of experience varies, but whether they're a newcomer or a vet, each member says the atmosphere in Tulsa is what keeps them coming back.

"You talk to anyone, I feel like this is the biggest event that comes to Tulsa, and everyone's super, super excited,” said cyclist Conor Mullervy. “The community really gets around it, with like host housing and all that, so I think this is probably one of the bigger events we'll do this year."

Cyclist Stephan Hoffman added, "They were like, ‘There's this race, it's called Cry Baby Hill,’ and they just started talking about. It was the most intense, crazy thing. It was so much fun. It was so hard. Then, I Googled it and I see like a massive crowd; so, for me, I wanted to come and do this because it just sounded nuts."

The Clif Bar guys say this is the strongest field they can remember.
