Kickoff and TV information for one of college football's premier 2017 non-conference games was announced Thursday. Oklahoma's Sept. 9 contest at Ohio State will start at 6:30 p.m. CT and be televised by ABC.
The game, to be played at 104,944-seat Ohio Stadium, will feature the top two programs in the Associated Press' all-time top 25 that was revealed last August. Ohio State was slotted No. 1 and Oklahoma No. 2.
The Buckeyes (.724) and Sooners (.721) rank third and fourth in all-time winning percentage and have combined for 1,758 victories and 12 national titles. Since 2000, OU has the most wins among Power 5 conferences programs with 183, while Ohio State ranks second with 181. Each went 11-2 last year when OU finished No. 3 in the coaches poll and No. 5 in the Associated Press poll. Ohio State finished No. 6 in both polls.
The programs have met three times, with the visiting team winning all three contests. Third-ranked OU won 29-28 at fourth-ranked OSU in 1977 on Uwe von Schamann's 41-yard field goal, the No. 6 Buckeyes took a 24-14 decision over the No. 2 Sooners in 1983 in Norman, and No. 3 OSU downed No. 14 OU 45-24 last season.
The Sooners and Buckeyes are both consensus top-10 choices in national spring media polls. The Buckeyes are rated No. 1 by ESPN.com, No. 2 by FoxSports.com and Athlon, No. 3 by Sporting News, CBSSports.com and Pro Football Focus, and No. 4 by Sports Illustrated. OU is rated No. 4 by Pro Football Focus, No. 7 by Sports Illustrated and Sporting News, No. 8 by ESPN.com, FoxSports.com and Athlon, and No. 9 by CBSSports.com.
