Some Tulsa Public School teachers are at the state capitol Tuesday to participate in a rally for education.

The teachers are wanting lawmakers to hike the Gross Production Tax on oil and gas wells to bring in more money for public education.

The teachers say legislators need to hear from those who are feeling the effects of constant budget cuts.

"They're good people with good intentions, we just need to make sure they are listening to the right people, and we're the ones in the trenches, we're the ones being affected," said Shawna Mott-Wright, Tulsa Classroom Teachers Association.

Wright says they want to make sure parents make their voices heard as well and invited several to go along with them to Oklahoma City.
