The Tulsa Board of Education approved the first phase of this year's cutbacks at TPS during a meeting Thursday evening.
The board eliminated 60 administrative positions, then created 34 new ones, for an overall cut of 26 jobs.
The district's deputy police chief asked for a hearing on the staff reduction, but in the end, he lost his job as well.
Next week, the school board meets to discuss the west side school consolidation, all part of an estimated $12 million budget reduction for the Tulsa district.
