LeFlore County Man Arrested For Stabbing Wister Man To Death

A 35-year-old Shady Point man was arrested Tuesday by Poteau police and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation for stabbing another man to death after the two had a disagreement, authorities said. 

Poteau police said Harlan Ray Kelly stabbed John Claude Rye, 34, of Wister, in the chest Tuesday night after a fight broke out between the two men.

Rye was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. 

PPD and OSBI investigators searched for Kelly and found him hiding nearby before taking him into custody, police said. 

Kelly was booked into the LeFlore County Detention Center on a murder complaint, police said.
