Dozens of area kids will be a little cozier when the cold weather moves in this week.
Volunteers with RSVP Tulsa spent all year knitting and crocheting to get more than 1,000 hats and scarves ready for this winter.
The Knitten’ Kittens are giving them to children at several Tulsa elementary schools. Tuesday, kids at McArthur Elementary got their hats and scarves.
Volunteers said the best part of the project is to see the kids smile.
"That's what makes it all worthwhile for us. Just to give them a little something that maybe they don't get," Laverne Branch said.
If you'd like to help RSVP, volunteers say they could always use more yarn. You can drop off donations at the Retired Senior Volunteer Programs Office at 31st & Sheridan.
