University of Tulsa sophomore basketball student-athlete Geno Artison was one of 181 men’s collegiate basketball players named as a nominee for the 2017 Allstate NABC Good Works Team, it was announced by The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and the Allstate Insurance Company.
This esteemed award honors an outstanding group of student-athletes who represent the sport’s finest in the areas of community service and leadership among their peers.
In his short time at Tulsa, the junior college transfer has been involved in various community service projects in the local area. Artison has given his time to Lift Up America, St. Francis Children’s Hospital visits, Day Spring Villa, Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club and Frost Elementary School as well as the ‘Tulsa Plays’ events during the summer.
Artison came to Tulsa prior to the 2016-17 academic season, transferring from the College of Southern Idaho after spending a redshirt year at Fresno State. The 6’9” forward from Seattle, Washington, has played in all five games this season and averages 3.3 points per game for the Golden Hurricane.
The Allstate NABC Good Works Team® recognizes players at all levels of college basketball whose charitable involvement and altruistic acts stand out amongst all other student-athletes participating in the sport.
The final 10-member NABC Good Works Team® team will be comprised of five student-athletes from the NCAA Division I level and five student-athletes from Divisions II, III and the NAIA. The award recipients will be unveiled in February.
