Dwelling Spaces Opens Its Doors At The Boxyard

The first store in a  new eco-friendly shopping center in downtown is now open just in time for the holidays.

It's just another part of the rapidly growing East Village.

The News On 6 got to check out the first business in The Boxyard development.

Lyle Foster and his daughter spent their Sunday morning checking out the latest development in downtown Tulsa.

"I always kind of make my daughter give me the downtown tour and see what's new, what's changed, we did the architectural tour last month, so there's always something we're doing downtown and I love it," Foster said. 

Longtime Tulsa retailer Dwelling Spaces just opened its doors in the new Boxyard development, made entirely of reused shipping containers.

The store boasts all locally crafted items and a coffee shop.

"This is kind of my holiday table I've put together."

And the Boxyard development is one of a kind.

"Before in downtown Tulsa, there's not been a place where people can go and shop in several stores in one location or have like a destination besides food or a concert, you know have a destination where maybe they could do all those things."

The Boxyard will eventually be home to a restaurant/bar area, outdoor events and other businesses.

Something Foster - who's a frequent Tulsa visitor - is excited about.

"Well, I've actually seen these types of developments in some other cities so I think it's really exciting it's come to Tulsa," Foster said. 

Foster said he's ready to see what else the new development has in store.

The Boxyard is located at 3rd and Frankfort in downtown.
