It's a huge weekend for runners participating in the Williams Route 66 Marathon Saturday and Sunday.
Some roads within the IDL and midtown will be blocked through 10 p.m. Sunday.
Events begin on Saturday with a 5K run and walk at 8 a.m., a fun run and walk at 9 a.m. and the popular mascot dash at 9:30 a.m. Those events start at 6th and Main and go through the Pearl District, midtown Tulsa to TU, Florence Park to 28th Street, the Utica Square area all the way to 41st and Peoria/Riverside.
On Sunday, runners will be out for quite some time as they complete half marathon, relay marathon and marathon events. All Sunday races start at 8 a.m. Runners start on Main at 7th Street, go south and west to Cherry Street and north on Peoria. Other courses take runners down Southwest Boulevard and Riverside Drive.
Thursday through Friday, the closures mostly affect the Brady Arts District around Guthrie Green and parts of downtown as volunteers set up staging areas.
The event benefits the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma, Folds of Honor Foundation, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Oklahoma Chapter, Tulsa Area United Way and the Tulsa Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
We have a map of road closures below, or you can go to the Williams Route 66 website for full road closures.
