The teachers and students at Northwoods Fine Arts Academy in Sand Springs had some Halloween fun Monday.

Each class decorated a special pumpkin and then watched them get destroyed in the first ever Northwoods Punkin’ Chunkin’.

The pumpkins started in the hallway for everyone to see, then, were carried to the base of the hill before being passed up the hill, bucket brigade style, to the catapult.

One by one, all the decorated pumpkins were catapulted down the hill - none survived.

I thought the kids might be disappointed, but I was wrong., they loved it.

The event wasn’t all just for fun, the teachers said students are learning about machines and this fit right in.
