With just four weeks into the 2016-2017 flu season, state health officials say 14 people have been hospitalized due to the illness.

The Oklahoma State Department of Health released its latest figures Thursday and says the number of counties with flu hospitalizations continues to grow.

Two weeks ago, the OSDH says there were eight flu hospitalizations in seven counties.  This week, the OSDH says there are now 14 cases in ten counties.  Six of those hospitalizations have been in eastern Oklahoma.

Every Thursday, the OSDH releases its weekly influenza report and will continue to do so until May 2017.

The department says the flu vaccination is recommended each year for everyone, six months of age or older.

The OSDH says every county health department across the state has the vaccine.

The department has an address and phone number link to all those county offices.
