Almost 2,000 customers were without power in midtown Tulsa after an SUV hit a power pole at 26th and Yale just before 7:30 a.m. Monday, October 17, 2016. That number was down to around 650 customers by 8 a.m. and down to fewer than 100 by 9:12 a.m.
Four utility trucks were at the scene working to replace the pole and the crew had all the power back on by about 9:30.
It appears the SUV was heading northbound on Yale when it smashed into the pole. The pole is still standing but wires snapped.
Outages reached as far north as 11th and Yale.
Tulsa Police said the female driver swerved to miss a box that was on the road before she hit the power pole. TPD said the box was located and the driver refused treatment at the scene.
