T. Boone Pickens Sounds Off On OU President David Boren, Mike Gundy

T. Boone Pickens didn’t hold back his thoughts about Oklahoma President David Boren and Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy when he spoke on the Austin American-Stateman’s “On Second Thought” podcast.

After many recent reports that Boren changed his stance on the Big 12 expansion, the OSU benefactor suggested that he should retire.

“I’ve known David forever,” said Pickens. “He likes to talk a lot. He gets a little bit confused sometimes.”

Boren clarified in a statement obtained by OU Daily, saying, “I do not know where the speculation came from, but Oklahoma has not yet taken a position on expansion.”

Pickens also suggested that he didn’t have an existent relationship with Gundy.

“I don’t have any conversations with Gundy,” he told Statesman. “Mike doesn’t handle people relationships very well. And [he] gets mad about things. I’ve heard he’s written some notes about me that weren’t very complimentary.”
