The 37th annual ScotFest continues Saturday at River West Festival Park. The festival is a celebration of Celtic history and heritage with fun for the whole family.

Saturday morning, bagpipers were warming up and getting ready for competitions.

The foggy morning didn’t affect the bagpipes but the Oklahoma sun played its part in the bagpipe players making adjustments.

“They were born in Scotland so they do like colder weather and moisture, however, the problems we have in Oklahoma is that the sun comes out and with them being completely wood, they’ll swell and it’ll change the pitch so you have to constantly tune so that you sound good the whole time,” said bagpipe player Dan Diette.

The bagpipers will compete as soloists and also as bands, and the competition gets pretty fierce, Diette said.

“It’s about fun but it’s also very intense,” Diette said.

The festival continues through Sunday with events, contests, athletic events and food.
