It's not often that a police department goes out of its way to thank another department, but that’s what happened Monday afternoon when sheriff's deputies from Kansas came to honor Tulsa police.
The two departments stationed 200 miles apart came together Monday afternoon. The Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office out of Wichita, Kansas held a small ceremony to thank Tulsa's police department.
"I applaud the sheriff for doing that, for coming down here himself - and I think it is pretty uncommon," Chief Chuck Jordan said.
The connection between the two departments goes back to November 2014 when two women -- Amanda Douglas and Jennifer Sudar -- were found shot to death at 44th and Garnett in Tulsa.

Sedgwick County sheriff, Jeff Easter said, "The least we could do is to come down here and congratulate them and honor them for the service that they gave us, and for this victim's family."
The Tulsa Police Department said the investigation is far from over and the case is part of a network, possibly involving a heroin and sex trade.
Sergeant Dave Walker said, "It plays a bigger part, there's a big story to it. It comes down to domestic violence, the dope industry. So there's money involved, there's sex involved, there's dope involved."
Because the investigation is ongoing, police are tight-lipped about how the cases are connected and why Childress was murdered.
