The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says the pilot of a small airplane was forced to make a very hard landing in a field north of Skiatook Saturday morning.

Troopers said the landing happened shortly after 11 a.m. in Osage County.

The Osage County Sheriff's Office says there were seven people, including the pilot on board the plane owned by a Kansas couple.  They say four were taken to a Tulsa hospital to be checked out.

Deputies said the pilot indicated the Cessna's engine stalled after taking off from Skiatook's airport.  That forced the pilot to land in a field about a mile north of Highway 20.  The OHP says the plane landed about 300 feet from a home and 400 feet from a barn.

Osage County Sheriff's deputies say the group was in town to attend a wedding.  A member of the group indicated they wanted to do some skydiving and they had finished a successful jump earlier in the morning and were heading up for a second jump when the engine lost power.

Troopers say the FAA and NTSB will be investigating the crash.
