Chase Suspect Stops Traffic On Tulsa Interstate

A driver being chased by Tulsa Police stopped traffic on Interstate 44 near Union Avenue Tuesday afternoon.

The chase began at about 4:15 p.m. and the driver stopped his Chevy Lumina on the highway at about 4:25 p.m. After sitting still for several minutes, he suddenly drove off. 

A witness, Shawn Arnold at Arnold's Hamburgers, said he saw six police officers with their guns drawn at the scene. He said the driver is a man and is alone in the car. 

Police and Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers took him into custody in the 6800 block of New Sapulpa Road when his car ran off the road. 

Police haven't said why they were chasing him.
