If you were to ask Tulsa athletes how they spent their summer, they would simply say they played.
This summer TU players from multiple sports took part in what was called “Tulsa Plays!”
Football safety Jordan Mitchell was one of the brains behind the event.
"We're out here just so the kids can come out here and have a good time and get some drills going,” said Mitchell. “You know, trying to learn different sports, football, basketball, volleyball and just try to meet some of our athletes out here and have a good time."
Of course, this time, it was okay for the athletes to take the loss. For example, Golden Hurricane football players getting beat by kids.
"When I was their age, I loved hanging out with the older guys,” said TU basketball guard Corey Henderson. “I looked up to them as [a] little kid. You know, it was always exciting seeing them."
And it's a nice stress release for the athletes before they head back out into serious competition.
