Thought about adding an animal companion to your life? This Saturday animal rescue groups across the country will try to "Clear the Shelters" by finding every shelter animal a permanent home.
City of Tulsa Animal Welfare, the Tulsa SPCA, Humane Shelter of Tulsa and other groups hope to adopt out as many animals as possible on Saturday, July 23.
Tulsa Animal Welfare, 3031 North Erie Avenue, will hold $10 adoptions from 12 to 6 p.m. You can see their adoptable animals here.
Tulsa SPCA will hold "name your price adoptions" at their facility, located at 2910 Mohawk Boulevard. The event starts at 10 a.m. and runs through 5 p.m.
Go to the Tulsa SPCA website.
The Humane Society of Tulsa will participate in Clear the Shelter Day in two locations - its main facility at 6232 East 60th Street in Tulsa and its emergency location at 13290 South 80th East Avenue in Bixby. They will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at both locations, and adoptions are free with an approved application.
All adopters will also receive a certificate from Petco for up to $650 in free and discounted goods and services, according to their Facebook page.
Other area rescue groups will be at pet stores like Southern Agriculture, Petsmart and Petco.
If you are a rescue group and are participating in the event, please list your information in the comments section below. Also, if you need to be added to our Oklahoma Animal Rescue Groups page, please email dee.duren@newson6.net.
