A local group is planning a peace rally tonight in Tulsa after the recent police shootings.

The "Call to Peace, Call to Love" will start at Guthrie Green on Friday at 7 p.m.

Organizers say attendees will spend time praying for the nation, then participate in a peace walk to John Hope Franklin Reconciliation Park, where community leaders will speak about peace.

Event leaders say the officer-involved shootings against black men initially inspired the event. But Thursday night’s sniper attack on police officers at a protest in Dallas sparked a greater need.

Organizers say they might reach out to TPD for security, but they don't anticipate much trouble since they say it will be a peaceful event.
