It’s been a day full of celebrations in Collinsville.
Things got kicked off with a parade through downtown, but the fun really got going when folks made their way to the park.
They got to enjoy live music from local talent, helicopter rides, and lots of fun for kids. There was a splash pad, good food, and plenty of games to keep the whole family entertained.
While people took an opportunity to reflect and be thankful to our Solider's who gave us this freedom, many, especially the youngsters, couldn't wait for the fireworks.
"I like the big sound of them because it sounds like a grenade going off,” said Logan Limblocker.
Clyde Johnson added, "It's good this time of year to be able to get around your family and loved ones and just celebrate man, and be able to spend that time with your daily."
Helicopter pilot Ben Hagle says it was a good day to attend the festivities.
"It's a good opportunity to come out and help out the community, service everybody, let them enjoy the helicopter in a very personal way," stated Hagle.
"It just means to be thankful [for] the people who sacrificed their lives to keep you free,” Casey Conroy spoke of the upcoming holiday.
If you didn't get to celebrate the fourth yet, there are plenty of activities still to come this holiday weekend.
And be sure to thank a veteran for the opportunity to celebrate our freedom.
