A record number of people will hit the roads this 4th of July weekend. AAA says this Friday will be the busiest travel day so far this year.
AAA estimates nearly 43 million Americans will hit the road this weekend, the highest Fourth of July travel volume in 15 years.
The group says gas prices have a lot to do with the number of travelers.
AAA also projects that these will be the lowest Independence Day gas prices since 2005. The report notes airfare and hotel rates are also lower than they were at the same time last year.
So with all that accounted for, travelers are encouraged to plan accordingly and expect long lines at airports. Drivers across the country are advised to plan on leaving before 1 p.m. to avoid long delays.
AAA also advises that to make sure your car is inspected at a trusted repair shop before hitting the road.
The TSA recommends you arrive at least 2 hours early for traveling by air.
