Authorities searched for a man who has been missing since Tuesday afternoon at Lake Tenkiller. Webbers Falls resident Matthew Scott Fagan was last seen around 3:30 p.m. hiking near Cato Creek.

Teams of dogs and deputies on horseback searched the area Thursday, but the Sequoyah County Sheriff's Office called off the search in the afternoon due to heat.

Fagan was hiking with three other people but decided to go back to the car before his friends because his feet were hurting, according to Sheriff Ron Lockhart, Sequoyah County Sheriff's Office.

When the others returned to the car, he wasn't there.

Teams of dogs and deputies on horseback searched the area Thursday, but the Sequoyah County Sheriff's Office called off the search in the afternoon due to heat.

We have covered all the area," Lockhart said. "We had six horseback riders plus dogs and several on foot."

Lockhart said they began searching on Tuesday.
